Now that I have your attention, relax, this isn’t going to be what you think. I know that this word causes some parents hearts to jump a little bit. Don’t worry, this post is not going to talk about anything inappropriate. It is going to talk about how important sex can be in having and leading a healthy life. First let me say, I am not talking to young kids or people who are not in a solid relationship. So, don’t run off and tell your parents that I advised you to have sex because that is not what I am saying.
A little bit of science behind it….
We all know that losing fat has to do with balanced hormones. Estrogen, progesterone, insulin, testosterone and cortisol. Today I want to say a few things about cortisol. Cortisol is known as the stress hormone and rises when your body is under stress. Cortisol itself is a good thing and is a natural adrenal response to stress. When stress becomes unresolved or chronic, cortisol is continuously elevated and the body enters what is known as the adrenal resistance phase. There are so many things that can make this happen such as, lack of sleep, excessive long duration exercise, and sugary and high processed foods. Making sure that your cortisol levels are at a healthy level is key in feeling and being healthy.
This is where sex comes into play. There are many things that can aid in lowering cortisol including plenty of sleep, meditation, pampering yourself, eating clean, massage and my favorite sex. Who knew that not only are you bonding and making a better stronger relationship but that your making your body healthier at the same time. 🙂 Watch out ladies, your husbands now have one more reason to throw at you. As you know my thoughts about living a healthy lifestyle are different from most. I believe that you have to be balanced in all of the important things in your life. If you are a gym freak that’s awesome, until that is all you are. To me having healthy relationships and having down time and meditation time is key. Why not knock out a couple of these at the same time? If we know one thing for sure it is that… WOMEN ARE GOOD MULTI-TASKERS.
