We all love to hit the gym, right? I love when you first walk in and you get the quick smell of straight up sweaty hard work ( especially the spin room)!!! You look to the left and you have the grunting meat heads, then you look to the right to see the scandalous gossiping girls. Despite all these awesome reasons I have just described, we all find ourselves in the gym pumping out some workouts. So, to make everyone’s experience more enjoyable we have put together the GYM RULES. A quick overview of gym etiquette for your pleasure.
YOU READY? HERE GOES.
Please clean up after yourself– sweat is awesome but being sick is not! Please make sure to clean off your equipment when you get done, especially if it is a spin bike. 🙂 Oh ya, and remember to wipe down your mat for the next person that is going to have their face all up in it.
You should always share– There is a guy at our gym(everyone from my gym will know exactly who I am talking about) that hogs the cable machine for literally hours! People will come up and ask to work in and he will outright say no. Excuse me sir, we share at this gym. How hard is it to let someone take a minute to do a set? I find that when I keep in mind that people are as busy as I am it makes it easy to let people work in. 🙂
Look around-Always look around or ask around to make sure that your not stealing someones machine.
Know your space-I was getting some water the other day and turned around to find myself nose to nose with someone. Holla, how you doing? Remember to think about personal space. 🙂 I love to talk just as much as any other girl but I think this was considered a kiss.
Class time-I am not the instructor that cares if you come in late or leave early. I love you being there! Just remember not to but in front of people if you are late. Some people come really early so they can get a great spot. If you know you have to leave early please make sure to put your stuff back so I don’t have to.
Don’t be a know-it-all-Don’t act like you are the end all to every answer. Even if you are a trainer and know or think you have a better way please don’t always think you need to add your advice. People are just trying to be there and be healthy. Don’t ever set up a situation that they might be embarrassed and not come back. We want everyone there. 🙂
Keep it to 10 seconds– Fellows, it is so flattering that you do a double take but make sure that it doesn’t turn weird. UMMMM, a number of times my pump class has had a bench full of people sitting right outside the windows and stayed watching the full hour. REALLY? WE CAN SEE YOU. LOL
If someone has earphones in, take it as a sign-Sometimes your just in the grove of things and ready to get down to business. If you see someone with earphones in, chances are that they want to zone. If they want to talk they will probably come to you.
Be nice and have fun-I promise that it is really ok to smile. It won’t hurt you! 🙂 If someone smiles at you or says hello, send one right back to them. Being nice goes a long way.
So my friend just emailed this to me!!! IT IS PERFECT!
